Awhile ago, I was teaching a class and one of the students asked me how to perform a certain task. As I started to explain, another student chimed in and started offering his own explanation. I stopped him and asked, "If the instructor is teaching, what can you as a student add to that? Why would anyone listen to you when they can go straight to the source?"
The same thing is true regarding religion. The Son of God has spoken. Anyone who came along after Jesus and is telling us what God wants and what God has told them, is immaterial. The Son of God has spoken. No one can add to that. Why in the world would you listen to anyone else?

Talking to yourself.
BE careful what you say to yourself. The negative stuff is easy to believe and has a tendency to stick in you mind. Instead, take a lesson from Muhammad Ali; "I am the greatest!"

The good and the bad we do.
I was listening to Mike Huckabee talk the other day and he said, "When we do good things, good things happen to us. When we do bad things, bad things happen to us." What a great simple truth, but let me carry it one step further. When you do or say something bad to someone, they will tell at least ten people what a jerk you are. When you do or say something good to someone, probably they won't tell anyone. So just to keep people's opinion of you neutral, you have to do ten times as much good as you do bad. So strive to always do good. So when you do slip up and do or say something bad, others will know its just a slip up. Its not the real you.

Roses
Does it upset you that roses have thorns or are you happy that thorns have roses among them? See the positive. There is beauty everywhere!

A wonderful way to describe Death.

A sick man turned to his doctor as he was preparing to leave the examination room and said, "Doctor, I am afraid to die. Tell me what lies on the other side."
Very quietly, the doctor said, "I don't know..."
"You don't know? You're, a Christian man,and don't know what's on the other side?"
The doctor was holding the handle of the door; On the other side came a sound of scratching and whining, and as he opened the door, a dog sprang into the room and leaped on him with an eager show of gladness.
Turning to the patient, the doctor said, "Did you notice my dog? He's never been in this room before. He didn't know what was inside. He knew nothing except that his master was here, and when the door opened, he sprang in without fear.
I know little of what is on the other side of death,
but I do know one thing...
I know my Master is there and that is enough."
This is from an email I received. Good stuff!

Missing the mark.
Quite often I am overcome with the burdens of my past sins. There have been times when I think I've had a negative influence in some people's lives and that deeply bothers me. I have never intentionally set out to harm anyone mentally, physically or spiritually. And yet, I know there are times in my life when I've left people with a less than favorable opinion of me. My consolation is knowing we are all a moral work in progress. God is working on all of us and gently directing us to become the people he created us to be. And God gave his Son Jesus to die for our sins. God is truly great!
